[PROJECT] Rice Wreath Fundraiser for Park Shin Hye's Upcoming Drama 'Doctors'

Hello Starlight Angels,

Our lovely girl Shin Hye is making a comeback to the silver screen! Shin Hye’s new drama – SBS ‘Doctors’ – will begin its broadcast run on SBS starting June 20, 2015.

Following previous years’ tradition, Park Shin Hye International Fanclub will be congratulating the drama’s premiere on behalf of international fans by displaying rice wreaths at the ‘Doctors’ press conference in mid-June

What is a Rice Wreath?
A rice wreath consists of a big banner display and standee with bags of rice (1 bag = 1kg of rice) stacked in front of the wreath. Rice wreaths representing fanclubs are displayed at Korean dramas/movies premiere press conference venues to show fans’ support for the cast. The bags of rice are donated to charity for people in need.

How much is a bag of rice?

Each bag of rice (10kg each) costs 40,000 Korean won (= 34 USD). Our target is to raise money for 30 bags of rice.

[NEWS] Park Shin Hye to Make a Cameo on SBS “The King of Dramas”

Park Shin Hye will be making a cameo appearance on SBS’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday series “The King of Dramas,”starring Kim Myung Min, Jung Ryeo Won, and Choi Si Won (Super Junior). She will be playing the role of a lead actress in fictional drama “Elegant Revenge,” which is produced by Anthony Kim’s (Kim Myung Min) company.

Park Shin Hye decided to make a cameo appearance because of her relationship with director Hong Sung Chang, whom she worked with in 2009 for “You’re Beautiful.”

“The King of Dramas” will take a look into the world of drama production, and singer-actor Choi Si Won will play A-list actor Kang Hyn Min, who’s loved for his intelligent and sophisticated image. While he’s known for his manners publicly, he’s actually a prickly and ride diva. King Myung Min plays Anthony Kim, a talented producer who makes hits and cares only for money; while Jung Ryeo Won plays Lee Go Eun, a rookie writer who believes dramas should portray humanity.

SBS’s “The King of Dramas” will air its pilot episode on Monday, November 5, at 9:55PM KST

[NEWS] Park Shin Hye has fallen for Won Bin - an interview

 

Looking at Park Shin Hye, we are always reminded of some kind of comical character in mangas set in the 21st Century - cute, carefree, determined yet innocent. In real life, being truthful to one's relationship is one of the many charms of Park Shin Hye.

In MBC new melodrama 'Heartstrings', Park Shin Hye's real-life personality is ineffably portrayed through her character Lee Kyu Won. She is comparable to an chameleon, who captivates the attention of others with her lovely, ever-changing charms. Because of her bubbly and boyish character, Park Shin Hye is always caught up in rumors with actors, with Jang Keun Suk and Jung Yonghwa being part of the list. In the interview below, Park Shin Hye speaks out about all the relationship drama:

1) Your character is a musical prodigy. In real life, your family is also talented in music.
Shin Hye: My dad is a professional saxophone player, and my mother can play the flute. Recently, my dad opened an applied music practice store in Pungnap-dong. My older brother is a guest singer for an electronic guitar group. Since middle school, he has been playing the guitar and neglecting his studies.

2) Viewers can see your gayageum skills starting from Episode 1 of 'Heartstrings'.
Shin Hye: I learned gayageum with a professor at the Seoul Institute of the Arts. Now I can play some tunes. In the drama I play the gayageum in some scenes. The music that you hear in those scenes are pre-recorded ones of me playing the gayageum. ^^

3) Your singing in Episode 1 has become the centre of attention. Have you thought of becoming a singer?
Shin Hye: Right now I cannot be a singer. I want to focus on improving my acting skills. At this moment, I don't want to two-time singing and acting. Although I cannot release music albums as a singer, I hope that through the drama I can show a new side of me to viewers. Who knows? Maybe one day a Park Shin Hye album will be released.

4) You were awarded the Popularity Award at the 47th Paeksang Arts Awards.
Shin Hye: I heard that as soon as the online voting started, fans immediately started to vote for me nonstop. I am very grateful to my fans and i also feel indebted to them. I will try my best to meet everyone when the filming of the drama ends.

5) You received a bouquet from Jung Yonghwa and that's how the rumors started.
Shin Hye: Yonghwa is a very good friend of mine. After the Arts Award, he said to me "At the Paeksang Arts Awards, you were the only actress who received a bouquet from an actor." He supports me a lot. We are both Blood Type A people, so we understand each other very well. We can be very close friends, but we cannot be boyfriend and girlfriend relationship. Haha. For Keun Seuk oppa, we are only quite close friends. Believe it or not.

6) An actor that you want to film with.
Shin Hye: Undoubtedly Won Bin sanbae-nim. After watching his film 'The Man From Nowhere', I haven't seen another actor and have the feeling "Ah he is so handsome" hahaha. I am like a teenage girl spazzing about celebrities. I would love to film with him.

7) Your ideal-type.
Shin Hye: I like someone who is determined. Determined and at the same time very caring and considerate. Both my brother and father's heights are over 180cm, so I like tall people.

8) Natural beauty.
Shin Hye: I thought about having plastic surgery in the nose and chin area. Even some people close to me suggested me to have injections. But eventually I developed some feelings towards my outer appearance. Now I am satisfied with my natural appearance and have never thought about having plastic surgery again.

9) To Park Shin Hye, Lee Seung Hwan is...?
Shin Hye: He is the person who let me debut. I have had a lot of respect for him since I was in 6th grade. During my audition, he asked 'Who is your favourite singer and what is your favourite song?' I answered 'Kangta oppa's Polaris.' At that time, I had no idea who Lee Seung Hwan was. After Lee Seung Hwan sanbae-nim finished dealing with some things in the company, I left Dream Factory (Lee Seung Hwan's company). When I left, he told me to 'Go to a bigger world and see more things, learn more things.' After saying that, tears fell down on his face. I was very touched.

MBC invites fans to decide on new name for "Festival"

MBC's "Festival" (working title) is inviting YOU to pick a new name for the drama!


From now on to April 10, fans can log into iMBC's website (see below) and submit names for the drama. The best submissions will win prizes, and up for grabs are Park Shin Hye’s sunglasses, Jung Yonghwa’s backpack, and signed copies of CNBLUE’s new album, “First Step“.

The producing company of "Festival", JS Pictures stated "In order to reflect the unique creativity of netizens, we have started the campaign. This drama is different from the other dramas of the same genre (youth love drama) We are looking forward to a unimaginably unique, lively and sweet drama title"


About the drama's plot, JS Pictures also said "Although this is a drama about university students chasing their dreams at an arts university, the passion that they portray is going to touch the hearts of people of all ages. No matter you are a boy, girl, youth or member of the aged, you will feel the connection."

As we reported earlier, Shin Hye's upcoming drama project "Festival" co-starring CNBlue Jung Yonghwa will be filmed at Lake Hamana, Japan in May 2011.

But it looks like she will be visiting Japan sooner than that!

It is reported on a Japanese tourism website that MBC drama starring Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa is to film at Lake Hamana in Japan! 

Rough Translation: 

Hallyu drama shooting confirmation! Hallyu youth drama "Festival" is confirmed to prepare for its shooting in the Lake Hamana region in Japan. The cast and crew are to arrive in mid-May and shooting will last for 20 to 25 days.  Further information will be updated in the coming days.

As we all know, Shin Hye filmed her Taiwanese drama "Hayate the Combat Butler" (alternate title: Sensation World) in Nagasaki, Japan last December. At that time, she said she wanted to visit other places in Japan. Looks like her wish is coming true! 

However, due to Japan's recent tsunami/earthquake, we do not know whether the filming will be postponed or not. Let's hope for the best.

Trying to live up to her grandfather's expectations, Kyu-Won immenses herself in traditional music training and becomes a university student who knows nothing about anything besides traditional music.

As Kyu Won's friends are fans of "The Stupid", she was forced to go to the band's concert with them and there she saw Lee Shin, performing life. She is immediately captivated by him.

Hayate Manga Gets Live-Action TV Series in Taiwan

Korea's Shin-Hye Park, Taiwan's George Hu to star in comedy by Kenjirou Hata

The Taiwanese production and broadcasting company Gala TV has announced on Tuesday that it is making a live-action television adaptation of Kenjirou Hata's Hayate the Combat Butler comedy manga. The story follows a boy named Hayate who serves as a butler, bodyguard, confidante, and more to a girl named Nagi to pay off a 156,804,000-yen (about US$1.8-million) debt. 20-year-old Korean actress Shin-Hye Park will play Nagi, while 28-year-old George Hu will play Hayate himself.

Viz Media will publish the 16th manga volume in North America next month. The manga already inspired two television anime series in Japan, and Bandai Entertainment announced at Anime Expo 2008 that it licensed the first anime series for North America. Crunchyroll simulcasted the second anime series in several countries as it aired Japan in last year.

Other manga that have inspired live-action television series in Taiwan include Skip Beat!, Itazura na Kiss (It Started With a Kiss), and Hana Yori Dango (Meteor GARDEN).

George Hu is Park Shin Hye's combat butler

GTV has just announced a new idol drama starring Korean actress Park Shin Hye and Taiwanese actor George Hu from K.O.3an Guo. The drama will be an adaptation of the popular manga/anime series “Hayate the Combat Butler” .

GTV is reportedly going to be paying for all expenses including plane tickets, hotel rooms and meals for the actress as well as her manager and assistant. She will also be bringing her own personal hair and makeup artist along during the two month filming period.

In preparing for the role, George Hu has been put under extensive training such as practicing martial arts, dancing, as well as singing. As the all-purpose combat butler, George is confident in showcasing not only his fighting skills, but also his ability to do house chores, “I’m great at cleaning the house. I’m also okay at cooking.” He even revealed that he once thought of becoming a chef too.

When Park Shin Hye visited Taiwan in the beginning of August, she met with George and had a hot pot dinner together. They didn't interact much due to the language barrier. George described Park Shin Hye as being “very quiet, skinny, and very cute," and looks forward to working with her.

As for GTV's other high profile project, "Extravagant Challenge", they have yet to make an official announcement on when filming will begin. Despite recent casting rumors, there was no mention of the drama's participation in the upcoming Taipei Television Festival. In addition to "Hayate", Meteor Garden producer Angie Chai will also promote her remake of "My Girl" starring Jimmy Lin at the showcase.
