YSY: I play Enrique and I live across Go Dok Mi and I'm involved with game design.
PSH: yes I play Go Dok Mi, a girl with strong personality who lives a lonely existence in Ocean Village apartment unit 402.
YSY: why do you live by yourself?
PSH: because its convenient
YSY: ahhh, I see...
________________________________

P: a fun episode? Today's shooting when Enrique and his fans were together involved in an activity(sports)together and Gong Pyoung stepped on Enrique's foot and tripped.  That was fun and well executed.  That was fun,
Y: yes
________________________________

Y: yes I wanted to have this opportunity to act with the actress Park Shin Hye and it really has been beyond my expectations.
P: ohhhh...
Y: she makes it fun and comfortable
P: well what should I say here?
Y: told you I would do well here.
P: yes, thanks
Y
P: yes I enjoyed watching him on drama High Kick Through the Roof so I had very high expectations, hmm... (Shi Yoon laughs)...
P: sorry , I really enjoyed watching High Kick and thought the character was cool.  It's great that now we are doing this drama together. Shi Yoon oppa has great personality. He reads a lot, its fun to listen to him talk . You can learn from him, he is very helpful.very warm.meticulous.
Y: Shin Hye met before for a good cause.
P: yes
Y: for charity. We met at a church where we held bouquets and had our pictures taken (this event: http://www.shinhye.org/2011/05/park-shin-hye-appointed-ambassador-of.html).  I thought at that time too bad it's only for this charity event.
________________________________

P: yes the director gives directions but usually the actors come well prepared, have a lot of input especially someone like YSY. We have so many ideas that the director has to give directions.
Y: yes of course. Although I enjoy acting I really get involved with exchanging ideas and enjoy the dialogue.  This is really fun.
________________________________

P: of course I saw the FBND web toon and I enjoyed it. I watched all web toon episodes all in one day.  I was worried about how it would be translated into a drama because this was something very different and new, But since I'm doing this drama with him it is even more enjoyable.
Y I haven't really seen many web toons, if you look at this story it is about Go Dok Mi, but there are life lessons here too.
________________________________

P: to be honest I don't have an interest on whoever living next door to me, but after doing this drama I wonder if my curiosity will change.  Wondering if there is a flower boy living next door to me.  I cling onto the hope that perhaps there is one. It feeds a woman's fantasy so it's fun.
Y: everyone is very energetic so there is good feeling amongst us especially since this is a web toon.  There is energy and something refreshing.  There is a vibrant energy about it that makes you feel good.
Y: of course I looked at this story from a different angle. What i came away with was he came from Spain alone a foreigner always moving always with different groups of people, always lonely.  Then you see Go Dok Mi who stays in the same place same house, same room with the same expression, even her clothes have the same pattern, same style.  That is why I think Enrique saw something comforting about her that s why he kept hounding her door.  So I think Enrique was also healing.
P: Go Dok Mi was someone who was frightened of the world outside, one day started to open up when Enrique reached out to her. You see her reveal her true personality little by little.
________________________________

Y: I'm kind of a prankster.
P: with this drama, I was able to let go of all stress and enjoyed playing the part. It was good.  You can see a bit of me.
Y: usually she is very gregarious but when we shoot she goes right into character.  She does it well.
P: I think I'm able to show it because its another side of me.
Y: you act well.
P: oh yeah...
Y: it's the truth
P: Oppa is very sincere.   I'm outgoing but he is even more.  Didn't know he could be this way.
Y: yes sometimes I goof off then I realize what I'm doing and think to myself oh this is so embarrassing, what are they thinking, there are 30-40 people watching. Oh well since I'm embarrassing myself then let's take this all the way to the end.
P: he does well.
Y: it's awkward.
P: really?!  When I see Enrique my hands and feet feel weird.
y: its not easy to play the part but Enrique is cute.
________________________________

P: yes there are good looking guys on FBND
Y: yes there are cute pretty girls on FBND too.
P: yes there is fantasy intertwined with life's melodrama in FBND.  Yes wondering if this really exists somewhere out there, a bit of dream and drama combined.
________________________________

(Ok this part I don't get at all.)
Y: oh will see this as Totoro (anime character) in Japan .It will come out as ikemen(handsome guy). When totoro come out like this ( hand motions fat) like the cat and its hand waving.  Sings song...Well since this interview is taking place past midnite this is what happens, we sing and nothing really makes sense.  Live like the cool FBND neighbors.
P: everyone please support and love us
Y: yes that's it , love us.
Thanks

[INTERVIEW] Park Shinhye's Healing Time Part 1

There's a saying 'I've watched her grow up' that people refers to young ones as they watch them grow from little kids to young adults. That's the case for actress Park Shinhye, who debuted as a child actor in drama 'Stairway to Heaven' starring Choi Ji-woo. To her, this drama granted her the gift of an extraordinary life. After the series, through her other works 'Goong S', 'You're Beautiful', 'Heartstrings', etc, Park Shinhye has engraved her name in the heartstones of her fans with strength.

The year 2013 is an unforgettable year for Park Shinhye, as she will be busier than everyone else starting this year. Movie 'Miracle in Cell No. 7' scored an unprecedented high box office, and in drama 'Flower Boys Next Door' Park Shinhye attracted her audience with the cocooned lifestyle of introvert Go Dok Mi.

Other than that, Shinhye directly took part in the OST recording of the drama. Her inborn athletic skills are enviable to many. In the following 'Healing Time', actress Park Shinhye will bring us into her story through her soliloquy.

Park Shinhye: movie 'Miracle in Cell No.7''s success in box office is because of its ability to grasp hold of the thoughts of the audience, with its story being the most important attribute to its success. To be honest, my part in the movie is very, very small. When I first read the script for the movie, I was filming my short drama 'Don't Worry I'm a Ghost' (KBS 2012), and I felt that story for 'Miracle in Cell No.7' could satisfy my likings, especially as it provides an opportunity for me to act along sanbaes such as Ryoo Seung Ryong. It is a great chance for me to learn. I do not mind playing a small role, because, I think: If I selfishly increase my role's size without considering the movie in general, wouldn't I be ruining the movie?

In my memory, the most unforgettable part of my role for the movie is the courthouse scene that I filmed with Ryoo Seung Ryong sanbae. In this scene, many actors of the movie were present to give me a lot of encouragement. It really helped me a lot. My regrets for participating in this movie's filming is that I could not spend more time to visit the filming locations to see the sanbaes act due to my schedule and time constraints.

If there is a chance again, I would like to take part in a filming project with all the sanbaes again. Sanbaes, can we please do that?

Ryoo Seung Ryong sanbae prepared a birthday present for me which he prepared by himself. I am very grateful to his care towards me. So grateful that i a lost in words. He gave me a mini 5-drawer cabinet, a cushion, scented candles. These items are things that I always use in daily life. I am very touched that he prepared the presents for me by himself.

"Being able to know you in this life is my honor. Let's continue this fortune in the days to come. Love you from your Dad" Ryoo Seung Ryong (the actor who plays Shinhye's character's father in 'Miracle in Cell No.7') was the Dad who personally sent a food truck to the cast of 'Flower Boys Next Door' to support me, and when he knew about the news of me being cast in the drama, he called me immediately to congratulate me. He was the Dad who cheered for me at the filming venue, the Dad who complimented me all the time, and the Dad who prepared gifts for me by himself.

The job that I want to do most now is to act. For people like me, if I cannot persuade myself (in doing something), I cannot persuade another person to work hard towards a goal. If I did not have this sense of perseverance  I wouldn't be able to survive in this industry. For the time and days later on, I will work on things that I am capable of, and things that I really would like to do.

[INTERVIEW] Park Shinhye interviews with JoinsMSN

===TRANSLATED BY WWW.SHINHYE.ORG PLEASE DO NOT REPOST WITHOUT PROPER CREDITS===

Actress Park Shinhye (Age 23) retains a fresh image at all times.
In every project she joins, Park Shinhye shows the vibes and freshness like that of a newbie to the industry, and captures the curiosity of viewers. Although she has been in the industry for 10 years, the ability to retain such ‘freshness’ remains a mystery. In every project she acts in, actress Park Shinhye shows different degrees of minor to major changes to viewers, and nobody can, ever, have enough of her.

Her recent projects are interesting too. In tvN’s drama ‘Flower Boys Next Door’, she is the clueless yet mysteriously captivating Go Dok Mi; in movie ‘Miracle in Cell No.7’, she makes the audience cry with the touching acting skills of hers – she uses her soul and heart to cry.

Although she is just a supporting character in the movie, her acting has invited the applause of many. ‘Miracle in Cell No.7 has also  surpassed 200 million viewers in the 1st week of its premiere, snatching the title of the most popular Korean movie of 2013 so far. In these 10 years, we have witnessed Park Shinhye’s growth from a Hallyu Queen to a Romantic Comedy Drama Queen.

Why did you choose to take the offered role in ‘Miracle of Cell No.7’?
Shinhye: My manager cried immediately after reading the script. I was curious because he is not the type of person who cries easily, so I read it. I cried immediately after reading it too. So I decided to take up the project. I wondered if I could show a different side of Park Shinhye that is different from previous projects. I took this as a big challenge to try.

Although you do not have a lot of scenes in the movie, you were like taking on a lead role.
Shinhye: I actually filmed a lot of scenes for the character. I filmed 7 times, but nearly all my scenes were cut. Seems like the director cut a lot of scenes. I feel very apologetic about missing out on the early promotions for the movie because of my schedule. The director also sent me a text saying ‘I am very sorry that you are missed out in the limelight.’

You received a lot of praise for your acting skills in the courtroom.
Shinhye: Watching movies and dramas of courthouses gave me a lot of inspiration and help. The presence of sanbaes also gave me a lot of help. My soliloquy in the courtroom, because of my good acting, I received warm praises from sanbaes who were present in the same scene.

Ryoo Seung Ryong sanbae praised you as ‘a very healthy girl with eyes as clear as that of a child’
Shinhye: I am very happy to be praised that way. Ryoo Sanbae is like a father to me, really very very gentle and kind. He told me that I have a very determined heart.

My own father said he cried after watching the movie.
Shinhye: My dad said he actually cried harder watching it for the second time. He said that when he was watching it for the second time, it was like watching a new movie, and he cried harder the second time.

There have been a lot of praises about your acting since the movie premiered
Shinhye: It’s like as if saying ‘Ah, Park Shinhye also has a side like this. It seems like her acting is not all about dramas, but also has an element of imagination. She has shown has that she can also work in a school setting, that kind of image.’

Although you have debuted for 10 years, you are still ‘fresh’ in terms of image.
Shinhye: I am not an actor with a lot of projects. Rather than being an actress, I want to show to my fans ‘the real Park Shinhye’. All this time, I am not going for challenges to try new roles. If I force myself to take on roles as mature adults, it seems like the audience cannot accept that.

Seems like you have the title of being a ‘romantic comedy drama actress’.
Shinhye: To be honest, although it’s a romantic comedy drama, ‘Flower Boy Next Door’ has slight differences from the past ones I acted in. It is very fun and interesting to act as Go Dok Mi. There seems to be some kind of mistake about the title of ‘Romantic Comedy Drama Queen’. I haven’t had an excellent romantic comedy in 3-4 years. Actually, after ‘Stairway to Heaven’, I tried a lot of roles, even evil antagonists. But not musicals, because I feel like, at this age, I cannot grasp musical roles with good understanding. When I was in ‘You’re Beautiful’, I felt like as if I had found a piece of clothing that suits me so well. When people call me the ‘Romantic Comedy Drama Queen’…. I really feel like I am one because people keep on calling me that.

Do you have troubles of being an actress?
Shinhye: New people are debuting all the time, and the dynamic acting industry is changing all the time too. Sometimes I am stressed by the thought of whether I can survive in this industry. But I know that this kind of stress is the same for many people. I can deal with stress quite well. I ride my bike by Hangang River. During summer, I enjoy wakeboarding.

Have you been depressed lately?
Shinhye: Hmm.. during Year 1 in university, I was. During that time, I wanted to enjoy campus life, but actresses of the same year like Go Ara and Kim Bum were very active in the acting industry at that time. So I wondered ‘Can I really just focus on studying?’ Because of that, I was quite depressed for some time.

Have you ever felt saddened by people’s comments about you?
Shinhye: Once, I had a very hurtful conversation with my parents. It made me really sad. Recently, the online comments are mostly about the movie ‘Miracle in Cell No.7’. They’re ok. But sometimes in the morning when I browse the net with my cellphone and see comments about ‘Park Shinhye and Jung Yonghwa dating’, I feel frustrated and think ‘What? Again?’. I’ll throw my phone aside and continue to sleep.

Are you aggravated by the comments about you and Jung Yonghwa?
Shinhye: I feel very surprised by the comments people have about us as the drama has ended for a long time already. During the drama ‘Heartstrings’, people said we looked very good together and mistaken us as a couple. Anyhow, recently I have listened to CNBlue’s new songs, they’re really good. Yonghwa is a talented musician who can act and sing very well.

You are promoting your drama and movie at the same time. Do you feel tired?
Shinhye: I went to the hospital ER this past Saturday. I was filming in a Art Museum at midnight, and suddenly I felt that my body was very heavy. I was saying my lines, and a ping of pain started spreading from my feet to my body.  I saw a blackout. But I thought ‘I cannot just walk away now or I will be a burden to the cast and crew.’ But in the end I was sent to hospital.

Lee Seung Hwan sanbae wanted to train you as a singer. If we rewind time to 10 years ago, would you still choose to be an actress?
Shinhye: Definitely. Now I seems like I have more ambition to work harder and become better. Lee Seung Hwan sanbae wanted to train me as a singer, but my company said I act better than I sing, and they believe that I should be an actress.

Do you have ambitions of being a singer?
Shinhye: I feel like being an actress can allow me to learn many new things. I learned how to play the gayageum, I learned to ride a horse. As for my passion for singing, I can learn it with the identity of an actress. But if I only become a singer, I think I will be bored by the limitations to learn new things.

What do you want to be in 10 years’ time?
Shinhye: I will be 33 by then. Maybe I will act solemn, serious roles. I want to become a person with ‘Park Shinhye acting’. I still want to act when I turn 50 and 60. When I was little, I thought that if I acted well, sanbaes would say I was cute and would like me. If I become a sanbae in future, I also want to take care of my hoobaes, give them support and determination.
